TERRELL, Texas — With several games still remaining in the season, Terrell High School junior Analyse Abrams-Malone broke the varsity girls soccer single season scoring record set more than a decade ago by Gennifer Hurst.

In their matchup against Quinlan last week, the Terrell Tigers scored six goals — five of which came off the foot of Abrams-Malone. Those five goals propelled Abrams-Malone over Hurst’s 63 goal record to a total of 65 goals on the season.

In their matchup against current District 12-4A leader, Mabank, last week, Abrams-Malone scored another goal, bringing her total to 66.

With only a handful of matches remaining in the season, Abrams-Malone has ample opportunity to better her scoring position and record.

Abrams-Malone says Hurst has been a great role model and credits her teammates for her successes on the field.

“Gennifer is someone I look up to so much,” stated Abrams-Malone on the Terrell ISD’s Tiger News website. “After soccer, she has gone on to have a successful career in the medical field and I want to be just like her.”

“We have really come together this season as a family,” she stated. “I cannot take the credit for all of the goals I have scored this season, because it really is a team effort. They all work hard to get me the ball and put me in position to score.”

Teammates with double-digit assists include Genesis Nunez with 29, Alisity Hickmon with 23, and Alayna Marroquin with 11. Abrams-Malone has 17 of her own, according to MaxPreps team statistics.

Lady Tiger’s Head Soccer Coach John Lantrip says despite usually being double teamed on the field, Abrams-Malone still finds ways to score.

“Analyse is a solid player with amazing skills and has the vision to see the whole field,” stated Lantrip. “She is very hard to cover and she only needs a small window to get a shot off.”

The team is ranked number one in the state for goals scored this season, ranked 3rd in the region, and 13th in the state, according to Terrell ISD.

The Tigers’ remaining games are against Kaufman, Kemp, and Ferris.
