FORNEY, Texas — The attorney representing a former Forney High School soccer coach has issued a statement on his arrest for failing to report allegations of sexual assault in a hazing investigation.
Former coach Kristopher Duplissey, 41, turned himself into the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday morning on an arrest warrant for a class A misdemeanor charge of failure to report — a Texas Family Code violation which requires teachers, and other professionals defined under the law, to report child abuse within 48 hours.
Duplissey was the first Forney ISD personnel to be arrested in the case which also resulted in the arrest of six former team members.
Today, Duplissey's attorney, Clint Broden, sent inForney.com the following statement:
"Kristopher Duplissey has dedicated a majority of his adult life to coaching and educating children. At the time the hazing allegations were made, Coach Duplissey was provided limited information and was met with a code of silence. Nevertheless, Coach Duplissey, in connection with other officials at Forney ISD, immediately instituted procedures which he believed would prevent any attempts at hazing among soccer players and repeatedly made clear that hazing would never be tolerated on any team he coached. At all times, Coach Duplissey complied with applicable state laws and Forney ISD regulations. Unfortunately, almost a year later, Coach Duplissey is being made a scapegoat and having his stellar reputation tarnished despite the fact that, at all times, he acted with the best interests of his players and always strived to do the right thing."
