COMBINE, Texas — After a months-long investigation, the now-former treasurer of the Crandall-Combine Baseball Association has been arrested for allegedly stealing from the association's financial accounts.

Investigators obtained a warrant for the arrest of 51-year-old Christopher Foster for theft between $30,000 and $150,000, a third-degree felony, on September 17, 2018. Foster turned himself into the Madison County Sheriff's Office yesterday.

The Crandall Police Department received a complaint on May 21, 2018, about several questionable transactions on the association's financial accounts.

"After an extensive investigation, it was found that the association's treasurer, Christopher Foster, 51 of Combine, had allegedly made several transactions from the accounts that did not appear to be related to the association," stated Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters.

Some of those transactions were also made in the off-season winter months, according to Winters.

An arrest warrant affidavit, obtained by inForney.com, alleges $39,655.99 was stolen.

Detectives obtained a subpoena for the association's account at American National Bank and noticed "suspicious" transactions beginning in February 2015 through May 2018, according to the affidavit.

"Beginning in February 2015 through February 2018 there were multiple checks written to Chris Foster or to "cash" that cannot be substantiated or proved that the funds were used towards the baseball association totaling $15,310.00," states the affidavit.

"Beginning on May 2017 to May 2018 there were debit card charges to the account that are not associated with the baseball association totaling $22,245.99," continues the affidavit. "After serving a search warrant on the baseball assocaitiaon's PayPal account, it was discovered that there were two transfers into a Compass Bank account for $1,000 each."

The investigation remains ongoing, Winters said.

Foster was released from the Madison County Jail after posting a $5,000 bond, according to records obtained by inForney.com.

Foster's wife, Robyn, serves as the president of the Crandall Independent School District Board of Trustees.

This is a developing story.
