FORNEY Texas — The Kaufman County District Attorney’s office is currently enlisting locals to join their annual Citizen’s Academy to learn more about Kaufman county and the inner workings of the office.
The 3rd Annual Citizens Academy will kick off with an informal meet and greet at Mama’s Daughter’s Diner in downtown Forney on February 12 at 6:30 PM. Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the 10 - week academy that promises to give participants a behind the scenes look of an active district attorney’s office and county government at work. The program also includes a field trip and culminates with a graduation celebration according to officials.
District Attorney Erleigh Wiley says her office is a bridge between law enforcement and the court system.
“Through the Citizen’s Academy you will get an opportunity to see up close how cases are handled, decisions are made, and learn how outcomes are reached,” Wiley tells inForney.com
“Citizen’s Academy ultimately allows us to show how our office works,” says Mike Holley, Kaufman County DA Chief Investigator and one of the academy organizers. “Participants will see how both our criminal and civil division work, and also get to meet some of our partners in law enforcement from the local, to the state and even national level that help us to investigate and prosecute cases.”
For more information, please contact Chief Investigator Mike Holley at 972-932-0732. Space is limited and there is no costs or fee.
