Disturbance call leads to search warrant and seizure of large amount of narcotics, stolen firearm, and forged checks

TERRELL, Texas — A disturbance call led police to a residence in Terrell on Monday night where a large amount of narcotics were later seized, along with a stolen firearm.

TERRELL, Texas — A disturbance call led police to a residence in Terrell on Monday night where a large amount of narcotics were later seized, along with a stolen firearm.

Police first received the disturbance call at approximately 9:17 p.m. at a residence in the 600 block of North Catherine Street. The 911 caller told police they heard people yelling and arguing and a possible gunshot.

Upon arrival, police officers observed the glass to the front door broken.

Peering through the broken glass door was 39-year-old Tony Lee Debolt, according to police. Debolt told police he and a friend were arguing when the door was accidentally broken.

"During the interview, from the front door, authorities could smell a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the residence," stated Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom in a press release Tuesday morning announcing the arrest.

Debolt was asked to step outside where he was detained while Terrell Police Department Narcotics Unit officers responded to the scene.

A search warrant was obtained based on probable cause and, upon searching the residence, officers located over five pounds of Xanax bars, multiple bags of marijuana, 10 bags of marijuana cookies, several bags of flour that contained marijuana, 26 counterfeit checks, and a stolen Smith & Wesson firearm which was reported stolen out of Fort Worth.

No injured parties were discovered at the residence, despite reports of a possible gunshot.

Debolt was arrested and charged with felon in possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 2, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 3, possession of marijuana greater than four ounces and less than five pounds, and 26 counts of forgery of a financial instrument,

Police also say over $2,100 in cash believed to be proceeds of illegal drug activity was seized.
