TERRELL— Larry Vrzalik, a local businessman and political activist, was arrested after a warrant was issued to the Terrell Police Department for alleged property theft, a Class B Misdemeanor.
The arrest warrant and affidavit obtained by inForney.com state that on April 23, 2024, Vrzalik was seen going into a Home Depot store and putting multiple items in his basket. At the self-checkout register, Vrzalik allegedly put the items back in his basket after scanning, did not attempt to pay, then walked out of the store with the items to his vehicle. As stated in the arrest affidavit, the total value was $172.91. The vehicle was observed as a 2005-2011 model Ford F150 four-door with red top and brown bottom, black tonneau cover, trailer ball hitch, and Ford OEM split 5 spoke wheels.
The arrest affidavit states that a DPS Crime Analyst used advanced technology, specifically facial recognition, to match a face to a Texas Driver's License, confirming that the vehicle that left the scene matched state records for Vrzalik. In June, Kaufman area FLOCK cameras revealed the truck in the area of Vrzalik's work address. This innovative use of technology led to his arrest by Terrell Police and booking on July 9, 2024.
The stolen items listed in the arrest affidavit include a 7" segmented masonry diamond blade, 1"x12" carbide hammer drill bit, a bag of plant food, two root-kill containers, and two fire ant killer twin packs.
