FORNEY, Texas — A Forney man who was arrested earlier this month for allegedly unlawfully restraining and sexually assaulting a woman is now facing additional charges after violating a protective order, assaulting a public servant, and resisting arrest, search, or transport.

40-year-old Benjamin Travis Adams was arrested last night on the most recent charges and has already been released — having posted bonds totaling $87,000.

On July 8, 2018, around 10:30 p.m., the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 1000 block of Halifax Lane in the Windmill Farms neighborhood, according to department spokesperson Jolie Stewart. There, police say an adult female was kept from leaving the house or calling for help. The woman reported she was physically and sexually assaulted.

Adams was arrested and charged with sexual assault with a $100,000 bond, unlawful restraint with a $5,000 bond, interfering with emergency request for assistance with a $5,000 bond, and assault on a family or household member by impeding breathing or circulation with a $50,000 bond.

He was released on those charges after posting bond of $160,000.

Yesterday, the victim told police she was again concerned for her safety. Kaufman County Precinct 2 Deputy Constable Frias, while talking to the victim in her driveway, observed Adams drive by the victim's house, within 200 yards, a violation of a protective order, according to Constable Jason Johnson.

Frias stopped Adams around the corner from the victim's house and advised him he was under arrest for violating the protective order, according to Johnson. That's when Adams told Frias, it "wasn't going to happen."

The Forney Police Department was requested for assistance detaining Adams who has combative with Frias, even while handcuffed.

Adams criminal history in Kaufman County includes charges for disorderly conduct - discharging or displaying a firearm, a 1997 charge for retaliation, and multiple traffic-related citations. A first setting in the disorderly conduct - discharging or displaying a firearm case is set for August 9, 2018. The most recent charges will go before a Kaufman County grand jury.
