TERRELL, Texas — Marijuana and cocaine were recovered after a foot chase with a wanted man in Terrell on Wednesday.
At approximately 4:25 p.m., Terrell Police Department Narcotics investigators were on patrol near the 1200 block of South Frances when they observed a black Cadillac Coupe, with distinctive features, known to be driven by a wanted man, identified by police as 47-year-old Tarius Tyrone Taylor, aka "Clyde" and "Forty Seven."
Taylor was observed in the vehicle backing out and back in to a parking space at the Brownstone apartments. Taylor then exited the vehicle, walked towards the southeast corner of the 700 building, and fled on foot when he saw officers, according to police.
Police officers chased Taylor down a drainage ditch and north through an unpaved and overgrown alleyway between South Adelaide and South Catherine Street where Taylor stumbled to the ground and was apprehended.
Taylor was arrested on numerous outstanding felony warrants out of the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office and the Terrell Police Department.
Investigators walked the path of the foot chase and discovered a bag of marijuana, a clear bottle which contained fresh crack cocaine residue, and two rocks of crack cocaine lying in the grass which investigators say Taylor dumped while fleeing police.
Taylor gave consent to search his vehicle and residence, according to Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom.
In Taylor's vehicle, investigators located a small bag containing several small off-white rock like substances believed to be crack cocaine in the center console, a small amount of marijuana in a white piece of paper in the center console, and loose marijuana in the console, cup holders, and a marijuana grinder.
A digital scale was also located on the floorboard of the vehicle and the crack cocaine was field tested and showed presumptive positive.
"Other items supporting [Taylor's] drug dealing activities were located" during a search of Taylor's residence, stated Sansom.
In total, investigators seized 32 grams of marijuana and 2.2 grams of cocaine. Taylor's 2011 Cadillac CTS and $217 from his pocket were also seized as they were believed to be used during or as the proceeds of illegal narcotics activities.
Taylor was charged with manufacture or deliver of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to one gram and less than four grams, possession of marijuana less than two ounces, and evading arrest of detention with bonds of $125,000, $10,000, and $30,000, respectively.
Additionally, Taylor is being held on warrants for evading arrest or detention with a vehicle on a $30,000 bond, evading arrest or detention with a $3,000 bond, evading arrest or detention with a vehicle or watercraft with a $15,000 bond, manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 00 grams on a $50,000 bond, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to one gram and less than four grams with a $50,000 bond, possession of a controlled substance in penalty group 1 greater than or equal to four grams and less than 200 grams, and tamper or fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair with a $50,000 bond.
