TERRELL, Texas — A suspected drunken driver struck six vehicles in Terrell early Tuesday morning and was held by citizens until police arrived.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Taylor James Seeton of Euless, Texas, now faces six counts of accident involving damage greater than $200, driving while intoxicated 3rd or more, and failure to identify fugitive from justice.
At approximately 2:47 a.m., on July 10, 2018, the Terrell Police Department responded to reports of a black Jeep driving recklessly on eastbound West Moore Avenue.
The first responding officer observed a black Jeep Patriot with heavy front-end damage and was smoking.
"It was obvious the Jeep had been involved in a crash as there were approximately 10-15 people standing nearby and were waving to get the officers attention," Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom told inForney.com. Seeton was pointed out by the crowd and was being held by a citizen who stated Seeton was trying to flee the scene.
Seeton refused to tell the officers what happened, refused to identify himself, refused officer's directions, was confrontational with several members of the gathered crowd, and ultimately a field sobriety test, according to Sansom.
Visual observations led officers to believe Seeton was intoxicated and was found to be in possession of open alcohol containers, according to Sansom. Officers also observed other indicators of possible drug usage.
"Taylor James Seeton was placed under arrest for investigation of driving while intoxicated, at which time he refused the taking of a blood specimen," stated Sansom.
Following his arrest, a search warrant for a blood specimen of Seeton's blood was signed by Kaufman County District Court Judge B. Michael Chitty. The blood specimen was taken at a local hospital and he was transported to the Terrell Municipal Jail where he now faces six counts of accident involving damage greater than $200, driving while intoxicated 3rd or more, and failure to identify fugitive from justice.
Seeton was positively identified while at the jail by his drivers license photo. It was also determined his license was suspended.
