Terrell man still missing, family still searching

TERRELL, Texas — Terrell Police Department and a desperate family are still searching to find 37 year-old Fermin Aguirre, who is mentally disabled and been missing since Monday.

TERRELL, Texas — Terrell Police Department and a desperate family are still searching to find 37 year-old Fermin Aguirre, who is mentally disabled and been missing since Monday.

Family members tell inForney.com that their brother, Aguirre, was last seen Monday morning at their home on Warren Street. He is believed to be on foot. He does not have a phone, wallet or identification.

Aguirre was last seen wearing a gray t-shirt and blue jeans. He is described by family as approximately 5'9" and 250 pounds with tattoos on his forearms and neck. Aguirre also has a deformed left ear that has undergone multiple surgeries

A witness told family they had possibly seen Aguirre on Farm-to-Market (FM) 148 near or around the Cowboy Church.

The family contacted the Terrell Police Department on Tuesday to report him missing. In a statement released Friday, the department says that the Garland Police Department had made contact with Aguirre, prior to him being entered in to the missing persons database. Garland PD reported that he appeared to be fine and was left walking towards Centerville Road from Glenbrook Drive.

“If he has made it out of Terrell, he is lost,” says his sister, Juanita Aguirre. “He knows Terrell, was born and raised here. He used to walking to a few different places around town, but he has always come home.”

Aguirre’s family is worried because they don’t believe their brother has had his medication since Sunday night. They say he suffers from schizophrenia and dementia and his behavior can change rapidly when not managed by medication.

Aguirre’s sister says she is in agony as she continues to search for her brother, pass out flyers and awaits answers from law enforcement officials.

“We have looked everywhere we would have known him to go,” Juanita Aguirre tells inForney.com. “He is not a threat, but he needs to be on his meds and reminded of daily living tasks. He will communicate very little, but will know keywords like , ‘Fermin, Terrell, Domino’s Pizza, and coke.’ We’re hoping that the police can help us.”

The family says Saturday morning that Terrell Police have not informed them on any leads or updates on their investigation. The department has not returned inForney.com’s request for comment as of press time.

“We are heartbroken and can’t focus on much of anything else,” Aguirre’s sister says emotionally. “Please come back home.”

Anyone with information on Aguirre's whereabouts is asked to contact the Terrell Police Department at (469) 474-2700.
