FORNEY, Texas — A Terrell man accepted a plea agreement and will be sentenced to 15 years in prison for a wrong-way crash on U.S. Highway 80 in Forney in May 2017 that killed a Garland man.

On May 30, 2017, then-60-year-old Kyle Lee Bradshaw, of Terrell, Texas, was alleged to be intoxicated when he entered the westbound exit ramp to U.S. Highway 80 near Lowes, while traveling eastbound, and struck two motorcyclists — a father and son.

The father, 57-year-old Gary Don Thorp of Garland, Texas, was pronounced deceased and Bradshaw was arrested for intoxication manslaughter.

In his plea agreement with the Kaufman County District Attorney's Office, Bradshaw pled guilty to manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, to wit, a vehicle.

Bradshaw faced two to 20 years in prison on both second-degree felony charges. According to the plea agreement, Bradshaw agreed to a 15-year prison sentence for his guilty plea in the case.

The sentencing guidelines in the case remained the same, despite Bradshaw not admitting to being intoxicated in the stipulation of evidence filed with the court.

Bradshaw accepted the terms of the plea agreement on January 3, 2019. Sentencing was scheduled for January 18, 2019, before 86th District Court Judge Casey Blair to allow the victim's family to attend and provide victim impact statements.

In May 2018, while out on bond on the intoxication manslaughter charge and awaiting trial, Bradshaw was again arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open alcoholic container, nearly a year after the deadly crash. His previous bail was held insufficient.
