New start and end times for all Forney ISD campuses
In an effort to save on transportation costs, the Forney Independent School District (FISD) has changed the start and end times of all FISD campuses for the 2013-14 school year. Also, FISD has combined the middle school and high school bus routes for both morning and afternoon routes.

2nd Annual FHS March-A-Thon scheduled for August 17; free concert planned
The Forney High School band scheduled their 2nd Annual March-A-Thon for August 17, 2013. The March-A-Thon will follow the same route as last year but will end at the Spellman Amphitheater with a free 15-minute concert.

FHS Wind Ensemble places first in area Honor Band Competition; advances to state
On June 26, 2013, The Forney High School Wind Ensemble achieved the single highest honor the FHS concert group has ever earned by being awarded first place at the Area C Texas Music Educators Association honor band session at Highland Park High School. By so doing, the ensemble became one of only 14 bands in Texas to advance to compete at the State Honor Band level held in San Antonio on June 30, 2013.

On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, Forney High School and North Forney High School graduates crossed the stage in back-to-back ceremonies held at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas. The class of 2013 is the first class to attend North Forney High School for all four years since its construction.

Forney ISD Board of Trustees raise more than $8,000 for scholarships with golf tournament
FORNEY, Texas β The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees raised more than $8,000 for scholarships at the inaugural Forney ISD Board of Trustees Sunset Scramble Scholarship Golf Tournament which was held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Creekview Golf Course in Crandall, Texas. The money raised from the tournament will go towards scholarships for a senior from Forney High School and North Forney High School from this yearβs graduating classes.

Forney High School students presented grant from Verizon for winning national mobile app competition
FORNEY, Texas β The Verizon Foundation recently presented a $10,000 grant to a team of engineering students at Forney High School for winning the Verizon National Innovative Mobile App Competition. The grant was awarded to the students by Verizon Vice President of External Affairs, David Russell during a reception held in the board room at the Forney ISD Central Administration building on Friday, May 3.

Forney woman wins Dallas Mavericks Teacher Recognition award
Being a teacher is a difficult and often thankless job, but Forney resident Whitney Rozell recently received much deserved praise for being a great teacher. Rozell teaches fourth grade at Porter Elementary School in Mesquite. The Dallas Mavericks and the UPS Store honored Rozell as part of their 9th annual Teacher Recognition Program.
