The Forney High School Marching Band recently attended competitions in Mesquite, Texas, and Desoto, Texas, and brought home several top honors.
The Forney High School Marching Band recently attended competitions in Mesquite, Texas, and Desoto, Texas, and brought home several top honors.
On Saturday, October 5, 2013, the marching band attended the annual Mesquite Marching Festival and won the Best Winds, Percussion, and was the overall Best in Class for 4A. The marching band also ranked second overall out of 28 participating bands. Coppell High School, 5A state finalist, took first place overall.
On Saturday, October 12, 2013, the Forney High School Marching Band competed in the Desoto Marching Contest. The marching band was awarded runner up overall and won three of the six caption award: Best Drum Majors; Best Percussion; and Best Guard. The Forney High School percussion section was awarded the Most Outstanding Indoor Percussion Award.
In September, the marching band also competed in Midlothian, Texas, and placed first in Class 4A.
The Forney High School Marching Band's next competition will be the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Marching Band Competition on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. If they qualify at this competition, the marching band will compete again in the UIL Area Marching Band Competition on October 26, 2013, at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
The Forney High School band directors are Mark Poole, Christopher Adler, and Mario Luna. The colorguard instructor is Casey Snead and the drumline tech is Shannon Jacobs.
