The Forney High School Highsteppers and North Forney Sapphire Strutters performed in this year’s 25th annual Children’s Medical Center Holiday Parade on December 1, 2012, in downtown Dallas. Both teams were invited by HTEDance Company, from Irving, to be in their performance groups.

Financial Audit Report of Forney ISD shows significant progress
FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees and District administrators received the 2011-2012 Financial Audit Report from the District’s external audit firm, Whitley Penn, during the Board’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. The audit was presented to the Board by Celina Miller, an audit representative from the Whitley Penn Audit Firm.

The North Forney Falcons have what every school wants, great booster clubs that work hard to help raise funds for the students participating in extracurricular activities. Forney's Warren Middle School student art show to celebrate patriotism and veterans
Warren Middle School art students will be participating in an art show on Sunday, November 11. The show will be held at the old firehouse that is currently being restored at 215 S. Bois D'Arc in downtown Forney. The students will be displaying the art they made with the theme of “Honoring Patriotism and Veterans.” The art show will run from noon to 5 p.m.

Forney High School Marching Band receives several high honors at Mesquite Marching Festival
The Forney High School Marching Band competed in the Mesquite Marching Festival on October 6, 2012 at Mesquite's Memorial Stadium. The FHS Band walked away with several different awards from their class 4A division and also all around rankings.

Windmill Farms will no longer provide sewer services for North Forney High School
Windmill Farms has notified the Forney Independent School District that they will no longer provide sewer services for North Forney High School beginning in June of 2013. Margaret Taylor Smith Elementary, Blackburn Elementary, and Brown Middle School will all still be serviced by Windmill Farms.

FISD Board rejects exclusive agreement with photographers for athletic events
In August, 2012, the Forney Independent School District (FISD) solicited two Requests for Proposals (RFP) for an exclusive photographer for athletic and non-athletic events. Typically an RFP is only solicited when the contract exceeds the threshold amount of $50,000, which is required by Texas State legislation. However, according to the district, currently they are not exceeding the threshold amount in photography services.

What do you do when your high school band budget has been slashed by over 40 percent? You hold a March-A-Thon and raise the extra money needed to keep your band intact. Since North Forney High School and Forney High School bands have been affected by budget cuts, they are both planning March-A-Thon events in August. They need the community's help to raise some funds!

Forney ISD Board of Trustees Approve 2012-2013 Budget
FORNEY, Texas – The Forney Independent School District Board of Trustees held a special Board meeting on Monday, June 25, 2012 and unanimously approved the 2012-2013 District budget. The approval of the budget at the meeting was the culmination of a six-month process involving the Board and Forney ISD administrators that included monthly meetings and budget workshops.
