On June 24, 2013, the Forney Independent School District swore in the three members who won the May 2013 election to the FISD Board of Trustees during their monthly meeting.
In May, voters re-elected Keith Bell and David Walker and elected newcomer Kathy Hall. These members will serve three year terms and be up for re-election in 2016.
Keith Bell served as the School Board President during the 2012-13 school year and has served on the board for more than 14 years. Bell has served as Board Secretary, Board Vice-President, and Board President during his 14 years of service.
David Walker served as the Board Secretary during the 2012-13 school year and has also served on the board for more than 14 years. Like Bell, Walker has also served at one time or another as the Board Secretary, Board Vice-President, and Board President.
The FISD Board of Trustees also elected their board officers that will serve for the next year. Bell was unanimously re-elected as the FISD School Board President. FISD Board member Greg Pharris was elected as the Board Vice-President and FISD Board member Heath Carroll was elected as the Board Secretary.
In a press release, FISD Director of Communications Larry Coker stated, “The seven-member Forney ISD Board of Trustees is the district's policy-making body. While it is comprised of individuals, it acts officially only as a group. The FISD Board works with the Superintendent and staff to set the direction of the school district with the education and well-being of school children as its primary focus.”
The 2013-2014 Forney ISD Board of Trustees include Board President Keith Bell, Board Vice-President Greg Pharris, Board Secretary Heath Carroll, Trustee Becky Dobbs, Trustee Kathy Hall, Trustee David Walker, and Trustee Mike White.
