In August, 2012, the Forney Independent School District (FISD) solicited two Requests for Proposals (RFP) for an exclusive photographer for athletic and non-athletic events. Typically an RFP is only solicited when the contract exceeds the threshold amount of $50,000, which is required by Texas State legislation. However, according to the district, currently they are not exceeding the threshold amount in photography services.

Nothing beautifies a community like trees. On Thursday, May 10, 2012, the Kaufman County Urban Forester teamed up with Texas Trees Foundation, TXU Energy, and UNFI, to plant a ceremonial tree at Crosby Elementary School in Forney. The Chinquapin oak tree was planted on campus, not far from a small tree that somehow survived the EF-3 tornado that destroyed homes in the Diamond Creek neighborhood. Many more trees are going to be planted in October.
