The Forney High School Highsteppers and North Forney Sapphire Strutters performed in this year’s 25th annual Children’s Medical Center Holiday Parade on December 1, 2012, in downtown Dallas. Both teams were invited by HTEDance Company, from Irving, to be in their performance groups.
The North Forney High School Sapphire Strutters accompanied the “Santa’s Big Top” float dressed as “Ringmasters” and were featured in “mini productions” at scheduled stops along the parade route. Teelee Phlieger, NFHS Sapphire Strutter Director, said, “This was our first year of participation in this historic event and we hope to make this a tradition for years to come.”
The Forney High School Highsteppers were featured in the parade finale. The team welcomed Santa Claus to the parade-goers in the “Santa Claus is coming to town” production by HTEDance. The team also performed at the scheduled stops during the parade, performed during the Children’s Trust Brunch, and the breakfast with Santa at the historic Adolphus Hotel.
Jeffrey Giles, CEO and President of HTEDance, said, “We were delighted to have an opportunity to feature the talents and skills of the FHS Highsteppers and the NFHS Sapphire Strutters, they certainly did add a flair.”
A press release from Children’s Medical Center states the parade “historically draws a crowd of more than 350,000 people.” This year’s parade started at Dallas City Hall, wrapped around Lamar street, and ended just past the historic Adolphus Hotel.
