The Forney ISD School Board took the opportunity on Monday night, October 1, during the FISD School Board meeting to vote on a new delivery method for sewer improvements. The board also considered the possible approval of selecting a construction manager-agent and authorize the superintendent to execute all agreements or contracts for sewer improvements.
The School Board voted unanimously to hire a construction manager-agent to manage the delivery method for sewer improvements. The Forney ISD also wanted to take the opportunity, during the approval process, to upgrade its sewer system to ensure service to a future planned elementary school site in the Devonshire subdivision. Larry Coker, FISD Director of Communications, stated the future elementary school for Devonshire is planned for several years down the road.
Superintendent Michael Holland suggested the use of Gallagher Construction Services as the Construction Manager Agent for the delivery method for sewer improvements. Holland stated, "We've had a long standing relationship with Gallagher Construction Services, we've met with them on this issue and are very confident they can continue to meet the needs of the district as far as whats best for our district financially and in the services." Trustee Heath Carroll asked how the board would be involved in later developments if the superintendent was authorized to negotiate and execute the contracts and agreements with Gallagher. Holland replied saying that all construction contracts and bills will return to the board for ratification.
School Board member Dr. John Taylor made a motion to approve the agenda item as presented by Holland and was seconded by member Heath Carroll, the rest of the board approved 6 Yays, 0 Nays.
