WARSAW, Texas — 12 people were evacuated near the Warsaw community overnight due to flash flooding.
Portions of southern Kaufman County remain under a Flood Warning until 5:45 a.m. Monday.
Several homes in the Warsaw area became inundated by three to five feet of water, Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie reported to the National Weather Service.
12 people total had already been evacuated before midnight, according to Howie. The American Red Cross of Kaufman County is providing assistance to those affected by the flooding.
The Seagoville Fire Department’s Swift Water Rescue Team was on scene to aid in some of those evacuations requiring a boat. Firefighters from Scurry, Crandall, Combine, Kaufman, and Dallas County were also on scene to assist in the evacuations.
As of 12:30 a.m. Monday, approximately 750 Oncor, Trinity Valley Electric Co-op, and Farmers’ Electric Co-op customers in Kaufman County remained without power.
