HEATH, Texas — Eighteen people were rescued from Lake Ray Hubbard after strong storms overnight capsized two boats, according to the Dallas Fire Department.
Between the approximate hours of 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue and personnel and equipment from the Rockwall and Heath Fire Departments conducted two separate water rescues of capsized boats, Dallas Fire-Rescue Public Information Officer Jason Evans confirmed.
One of the boats capsized near the 200 block of Scenic Drive — which is located southeast of Interstate 30 in Heath.
"There were a total of 14 people on the boat, with a majority of them wearing life vests," stated Evans. "All of them were safely recovered."
A second boat capsized near the Bass Pro Shops area. The four aboard this boat were also rescued safely from the water.
Evans says all individuals involved were account for and nobody was taken to the hospital.
