TERRELL, Texas — An 18-wheeler crashed through the center median of Spur 557 during heavy rains on Saturday afternoon.

The 18-wheeler was traveling westbound when it crashed through the median —west of Las Lomas Parkway and east of the U.S. Highway 80 interchange— jackknifed, and came to a rest on eastbound Spur 557.

Emergency personnel are recommending motorist seek alternate routes.

At the time of press, there was no word on injuries.

Yesterday, emergency personnel responding to the same area for a similar wreck and portions of Interstate 20 in Terrell have been plagued with major crashes the past couple of days including one in which more than a dozen vehicles were reportedly involved, including two 18-wheelers.

Three Louisiana residents, identified by police as 77-year-old Benjamin Welch, 72-year-old Linda Welch, and 49-year-old Alice Little of Cameron Parish, were killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 20 in front of Tanger Outlets on August 21.
