TERRELL, Texas — An 18-wheeler hydroplaned on U.S. Highway 80 Wednesday morning, crossing opposing traffic, and avoiding any major collisions or injuries.

Around 9 a.m., the 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 80 near the Spur 557 interchange when the driver reported hydroplaning, crossed the center median, and veered across the westbound lanes — avoiding any collisions with remnants of rush-hour traffic on the westbound side of the highway.

The 18-wheeler struck an embankment on the westbound shoulder of the highway, between the highway and the north service road, and jackknifed.

The right lane of westbound U.S. Highway 80 has been closed while a heavy-duty wrecker winches the 18-wheeler from the shoulder.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department are on scene.
