TERRELL, Texas — An 18-wheeler overturned in a crash with a Champion EMS ambulance on westbound U.S. Highway 80 at Spur 557 on Friday morning.

Both west and eastbound U.S. Highway 80 may see a complete closure as wrecker operations begin.

The crash was reported just after 11 a.m. on westbound U.S. Highway 80 just west of the Spur 557 interchange and before the business U.S. Highway 80 entrance ramp.

The 18-wheeler overturned into the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 80 and is leaking fuel.

As of 12:18 p.m., one lane westbound remained open. Both westbound lanes are expected to be closed once wrecker operations begin.

Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 may also see a partial or complete closure due to the 18-wheeler's location in the median, Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie tells inForney.com.

Minor injuries were reported for at least one person inside the ambulance. Its unknown at the time of press if the ambulance was transporting a patient at the time of the crash or who sustained the injuries.

"Please avoid the area if possible and use caution on the wet roads!" stated the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department on Facebook.

This is a developing story.
