TERRELL, Texas — A 24-year-old Terrell woman was killed on an Oklahoma highway last week, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Police say, just after 6:30 p.m., on Saturday, December 16, 2017, 24-year-old Sarah Young of Terrell, Texas, partially parked in the southbound outside lane of the Indian Nation Turnpike, south of Vernon, Oklahoma, in Pittsburg County.
Young was standing in front of her 2015 Ford Focus when a southbound traveling tractor-trailer struck the rear of her vehicle, causing it to strike Young. She was taken to McAlester Regional Health Center where she was later pronounced deceased.
Investigators say the tractor-trailer attempted to swerve and miss Young’s vehicle. After striking her vehicle, the tractor-trailer veered across the highway’s median, across both northbound lanes, and was struck by two other vehicles.
The driver of the truck-tractor sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from McAlester Regional.
