KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — An artic cold front will move over the region overnight and bring a chance of drizzle or light rain and temps in the mid 20s.
The National Weather Service (NWS) reminds residents to protect pipes, faucets, sensitive plants, as well as preparing outdoor pets and people without ample heating.
Overnight, there is a chance of patchy drizzle for portions of Kaufman County, according to the NWS. With ground temperatures still relatively warm, the NWS service does not expect significant travel problems however, light icing may occur on elevated structures.
On Thursday, it will be cloudy, windy, and cold with highs in the mid 30s to 40s, according to the NWS.
Further south of Kaufman County, there is slight chance of a wintry mix of light rain/freezing rain and/or sleet along and southwest of a Cisco to Stephenville to Meridian to Killeen line. Farther east there is a slight chance of light rain. The precipitation is expected to end before midday, stated the NWS.
The NWS also reminds residents to shut off sprinklers systems as they may cause icy patches on area roadways and sidewalks.
