Area departments fighting fast-moving grass fire north of Forney

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department, along with mutual aid departments, are fighting a reported fast-moving grass fire north of Forney.

FORNEY, Texas — The Forney Fire Department, along with mutual aid departments, are fighting a reported fast-moving grass fire north of Forney.

The fire was reported at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Farm-to-Market (FM) 548 near Falcon Way.

The Forney Fire Department responded with assets from North and Central Stations and requested mutual aid from McLendon-Chisholm and Terrell.

A CareFlite ambulance is on standby at the scene.

As of 6:09 p.m., firefighters say the fire is under control and they are in the process of mopping up hot spots.
