FORNEY, Texas — Several area fire departments extinguished a grass fire on Wednesday afternoon in Forney while, at the same time, firefighters in Kaufman were battling a similar fire.
FORNEY, Texas — Several area fire departments extinguished a grass fire on Wednesday afternoon in Forney while, at the same time, firefighters in Kaufman were battling a similar fire.
The Forney fire, sparked by a crew using a grinder to break down and remove a metal fence, quickly spread through the under brush in a pasture south of County Road 212 and west of Gateway Boulevard.
Firefighters from the City of Forney, the City of Terrell Fire Department, and the Terrell Volunteer Fire Department responded to and extinguished the fire. The Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management and Kaufman County Fire Marshals Office also responded to the fire.
Approximately six acres burned, according to fire officials.
In Kaufman, firefighters fought a large grass fire in the area of west of Kaufman Lake.
