FORNEY, Texas — Major improvements are underway at Mulberry Park with the construction of a new parking lot which is expected to increase parking capacity.
The project, however, will not be complete before the Forney Youth Baseball Association’s (FYBA) spring season begins later today with opening day scheduled for later this week.
The FYBA says parking will still be available at Johnson Elementary and overflow parking will be available at Warren Middle School — in the front and rear near Jackrabbit Stadium.
“This will be a little bit of a walk for our families and we are sorry for the inconvenience but just know this small inconvenience will be worth it in the long run,” stated the FYBA.
The City of Forney, in an inter-local agreement, has contracted Kaufman County Precinct 2 to complete the parking lot construction work which will include stripped parking spaces.
Pct. 2 Commissioner Skeet Phillips says the stripped parking will allow for organized parking which will increase the parking capacity at Mulberry Park.
Construction on the parking lot is expected to be complete in a week or two, weather permitting.
