FORNEY, Texas — The animals at the Forney Animal Shelter are benefiting from the good deeds of friends and neighbors who gathered last Sunday for Forney’s inaugural Bark-toberfest.

The event was co hosted by Bubble & Squeak Craft Beer and Wine and Forney PAWS. Complete with a dog costume contest, onsite adoptions, craft vendors, voter registration, food and craft beer patrons also enjoyed live music from local artists Clara Mae, Arthur Anderson, Mary Ellen Lollar, Darren Rozell, Zach Welch and Colton Mathis.

“It was a wonderful afternoon of fellowship, food and fun, despite a brief downpour,” Mandy Hood, one of the organizers tells inForney.com. “The shelter found 3 deserving dogs their forever homes, and a few hundred dollars was raised for the shelter!”

Organizers Rita Disspain, Mandy Hood and Candice Caldwell Hackenjos were grateful and extended special thanks to their vendors including Maya Taco Lounge, The Rustic Cowboy, The Corn Man, Small Cakes, Cherished Creations by Dawn, No BS Custom Vinyl, Stone Creek Veterinary Hospital, Amy Tarno, Epic Brewing, Community Brewing, Hop & Sting, Saint Arnolds Brewing Company, Boost Mobile and Tech Shark.

“We couldn’t be more excited about our initial success and look forward to making this annual event for Forney residents and their pets,” Hood said.
