FORNEY, Texas — A blown tire sparked a grass fire earlier today along Interstate 20 just south of Forney.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., the Mesquite Fire Department and Forney Fire Department responded to westbound Interstate 20 at the Farm-to-Market (FM) 740 overpass for the grass fire.
The fire was less than an acre in size and was quickly extinguished by firefighters from Mesquite and Forney.
The tire from an older model Dodge pickup truck either blew or otherwise dislodged from the axle while the truck was traveling westbound on the highway.
