FORNEY, Texas — A blown transformer on Sunday night sparked a grass fire and caused power outages to thousands of residents in the area north of Forney.

FORNEY, Texas — A blown transformer on Sunday night sparked a grass fire and caused power outages to thousands of residents in the area north of Forney.

At approximately 11 p.m., a passerby called 911 for a transformer which was on fire and had sparked the grass fire below.

The blown transformer caused power outages to the Windmill Farms neighborhood, Devonshire neighborhood, Skyline Estates neighborhood, and several other residents in the area of north Forney.

Farmers Electric Cooperative has been notified about the outage and estimates a restoration time of 2 a.m. At 12:05 a.m., Farmers Electric Cooperative reported a majority of the outages had been resolved.
