KAUFMAN, Texas — The Kaufman County Appraisal District’s board of directors terminated the county’s chief appraiser, Chris Peace, effective immediately, at the conclusion of their meeting Thursday evening.
This change in leadership comes just weeks before local property owners have been scheduled for protest hearings regarding their 2018 appraisals.
Peace has been with the appraisal district since 1996, more than two decades, according to his LinkedIn profile.
"The board has decided to go in a different direction," Robert Dobbs, Appraisal District Board President told inForney.com via telephone Thursday night.
Dobbs said specifics and details will be finalized in a special called meeting that will be set for the end of next week.
