FORNEY, Texas — The railroad crossing at South Bois D’Arc Street has been reopened following weeks of quiet zone related construction work.

On Friday, contractors finished installing asphalt and, on Tuesday, finished striping the area of the crossing.

Center Street, which was closed at the same time as Bois D’Arc, is also expected to reopen today with the Elm Street crossing being closed to undergo quiet zone improvements.

The South Chestnut Street crossing will remain open until the downtown crossings are complete at which point it will be closed for its quiet zone improvements, according to Public Works Director Chris Metz who updated the city council on the project last Tuesday.

The quiet zone is expected to be complete by July, stated Metz.
