Bois d’Arc Street to be closed July 10 for approximately two months, EDC launches downtown loyalty card program

FORNEY, Texas — South Bois d’Arc Street between Front Street and Trinity Street is expected to close Monday, July 10, 2017, for approximately two months as part of the ongoing downtown renovations and parking project.

FORNEY, Texas — South Bois d’Arc Street between Front Street and Trinity Street is expected to close Monday, July 10, 2017, for approximately two months as part of the ongoing downtown renovations and parking project.

The Forney Economic Development Corporations (EDC) says, although the street will be close, businesses will remain open and has launched a downtown business loyalty program to promote shopping and dining in the downtown corridor.

The closure of South Bois d’Arc Street between Front Street and Trinity Street is expected to last approximately two months which is dependent on weather or other unforeseen construction delays, according to Forney EDC Director Warren Ketteman.

Ketteman says work will first begin on the main travel lanes with a primary goal of reopening the street as quickly as possible.

Work will then shift to the sidewalks, parking, and other revitalization efforts which are expected to take another two months, again, dependent on weather or other unforeseen construction delays.

EDC Coordinator Stewart McGregor says directional signage will be placed to help direct drivers through the downtown corridor, to businesses, and to nearby parking.

Downtown access is still available through Broad Street, Front Street, Elm Street, Pacific Street, East Main Street, and Center Street.

“To help those businesses in Downtown, the Forney Economic Development Office (FEDC) has established the Downtown Forney Loyalty Card Program,” states the corporation on Facebook. “This loyalty program will encourage customers to still visit businesses throughout downtown, rather than be discouraged by construction.”

Customers can collect loyalty cards at participating businesses, make purchases, collect 10 stickers, and be entered into a chance at a $50 gift certificate each month. Two winners will be drawn each month and there is no limit to the number of cards a single customer may enter into the drawing. Gift certificates are redeemable at participating merchants. Additional details below.

“We thank you for your patience as we continue revitalizing our historic downtown,” stated the corporation.
