FORNEY, Texas — A box truck involved in an earlier wreck on U.S. Highway 80 became unhooked from the heavy-duty wrecker towing it on Pinson Road and struck a pickup truck.

No injuries were reported in either wrecks.

The initial crash was reported on westbound U.S. Highway 80 near Mustang Boulevard, just west of Farm-to-Market (FM) 548. The driver of the box truck reported brake failure and swerved across the highway before striking the center cable median.

The inside lane in both directions was closed while a heavy-duty wrecker removed the box truck from the median and towed it from the scene. The driver of the box truck was cited for insurance and license violations.

As the wrecker towed the box truck over the Pinson Road overpass, a witness reported it violently swerved back and forth before disconnecting from the wrecker, traveling down the overpass, and striking a pickup truck stopped at a red light at the Pinson Road frontage road loop in front of Settler’s Exxon.

The City of Forney’s Public Works Department was notified of a water leak at the Pinson Road location.

The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured. The pickup truck was towed from the scene.
