FORNEY, Texas — A burst water pipe led to the evacuation of Dunkin Academy on Monday afternoon.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., the Forney Fire Department responded to Dunkin Academy in the 500 block of Pinson Road for a water pipe which had burst.
The pipe, according to Forney Fire Department Captain Phillip Pyle, was located in the ceiling and had likely been frozen prior to the incident. Pyle says some of the sheet rock on the ceiling became damp and fell.
None of the students or faculty were injured.
“All children are accounted for and safe and are now located at First Baptist Church of Forney,” read a statement from Dunkin Academy. “We are working to fix the issues as soon as possible.”
On Monday morning, a sprinkler head on the fire suppression system at Forney High School burst and led to water damage to an isolated portion of the building. The classrooms were reportedly spared of any water damage.
