FORNEY, Texas — A business was heavily damaged after an early morning fire on Wednesday north of Forney.
Just after 2:30 a.m., the Forney Fire Department was dispatched to 15064 University Drive where an employee at a business reported a fire inside one of the buildings at that address.
The fire occurred in a metal building where, according to Kaufman County Assistant Fire Marshal Chad Woosley, the business painted and packaged. The inside of the building sustained "heavy damage," according to Woosley.
The cause of the fire remains unknown and under investigation by the Kaufman County Fire Marshal's Office.
Several area fire departments provided mutual aid including the Crandall Fire Department, Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, Sunnyvale Fire-Rescue, and the Mesquite Fire Department.
