KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — A child was airlifted from a crash on Thursday morning in Kaufman County.
At approximately 8:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash on Farm-to-Market (FM) 987.
A vehicle was reportedly waiting to turn into a driveway in the 7800 block of FM 987, in between County Roads 271 and 272, when it was rear-ended by an SUV.
A child in the vehicle was taken by CareFlite medical helicopter to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, in unknown condition. The child’s mother was reportedly taken by ground ambulance to Baylor, Scott & White in Sunnyvale, Texas.
FM 987 was closed for nearly an hour while emergency personnel landed the CareFlite helicopter on the roadway and wreckers worked to clear both vehicles from the scene.
The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department, Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office, Crandall Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of the crash.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of the crash.
