HEATH, Texas -- The City of Heath provided an FM 740 construction update on Thursday, July 20.
According to the City of Heath, the Texas Department of Transportation contractors are working to complete all four lanes of FM 740 between Smirl Drive and the FM 740 intersection with FM 550 prior to the first day of school on August 28.
"It is anticipated that four lanes will be open along the entire length of the project from Smirl to Heath Crossing (CVS) by the end of December, although TxDOT will continue to install sidewalks and grass and perform clean-up after December," stated the city.
Three traffic signals lights are also expected to be installed and operational by the end of December.
Those traffic signals will be located at the following intersections: Hawk Drive and FM 740; FM 740 and Smirl Drive; and FM 740 and FM 550.
