COLLEGE MOUND, Texas — A College Mound area home was destroyed in a fire early Saturday morning.
At 6:05 a.m., the College Mound Volunteer Fire Department (CMVFD) was dispatched to the 7000 block of County Road (CR) 118 in eastern Kaufman County for a single-story, wood-frame home completely engulfed in flames.
“Firefighters arrived to find the structure fully involved and partially collapsed,” CMVFD Safety Officer Terry Van Sickle stated.
Firefighters battled the home from outside the structure which was completely destroyed, according to Van Sickle.
The residents were not at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
“The family’s dogs were in an outside pen and are safe,” stated Van Sickle.
The CMVFD requested mutual aid from the Kaufman Fire Department and a CareFlite ambulance was placed on standby. The American Red Cross also responded to assist the family.
The Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
