FORNEY, Texas — A construction worker at the Gateway Oaks apartments constuction site was injured in a fall on Friday afternoon.

FORNEY, Texas — A construction worker at the Gateway Oaks apartments constuction site was injured in a fall on Friday afternoon.

The fall was reported just before 2:30 p.m. at the Gateway Oaks apartments construction site on Gateway Boulevard which is located across the street from the Gateway Cedars apartments.

The construction worker was wearing a safety harness and rope when he fell approximately 30 feet off the apartment roof. At approximately 15 feet, the safety rope snapped sending the construction working plummeting to the rest of the way to the ground.

Due to the mechanism of the injury, a CareFlite helicopter was requested to airlift the man to a Dallas-area hospital however, due to weather concerns, he was taken by ground ambulance to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. He was awake and alert at the time of transport.

The Forney Fire Department and CareFlite responded to the initial call and the Forney Police Department was later requested for a report.
