TERRELL, Texas — Construction on Interstate 20 and a wreck on U.S. Highway 80 are causing major delays for westbound travelers east of Terrell on Tuesday.
Construction on westbound Interstate 20 is causing major delays near State Highway 34 just east of Terrell. Traffic is backed up to Farm-to-Market (FM) 429.
Yesterday, several wrecks occurred in the backup of the construction traffic — causing further delays.
An earlier wreck involving an 18-wheeler on westbound U.S. Highway 80 between Terrell and Elmo has the westbound side of the highway closed while a wrecker works to clear the partially overturned 18-wheeler. DPS is preparing to reopen the highway.
Traffic from the U.S. Highway 80 closure is being redirected to FM 429 where a lot of the Interstate 20 traffic is also attempting to detour the highway causing additional delays on FM 429 approaching Terrell. Expect delays on FM 2728 south of Elmo from U.S. Highway 80 traffic which was diverted to FM 429.
