FORNEY, Texas — Construction to tie-in County Road 212 with the new Gateway Boulevard has been extended three weeks — prolonging the original road closure.
Contractors say a discrepancy between the finished elevation and the existing asphalt have caused the construction to go over the original two-week schedule, according to the City of Forney. Design engineers have provided a solution that satisfies the grade issue.
Residents who live on the southern portion of CR 212 who typically would drive north to access U.S. Highway 80 will need to seek an alternate route. Additionally, residents who live along CR 212 will have access to their driveways.
The completion of the CR 212 tie-in is one of the final steps before the southern leg of Gateway Boulevard will be complete. With its completion, Gateway Boulevard will connect FM 1641 to the gateway bridge and north to FM 548.
In a February inForney.com article, a representative of the developer expected the boulevard to be complete by September 2016 to provide access for the 1,850-lot Gateway Parks development which is expected to begin selling the first phase of 100 lots to builders in October 2016.
