CRANDALL, Texas — A Crandall Middle School student was hospitalized yesterday after being struck by a foul ball off the bat of Texas Rangers’ Joey Gallo in their matchup against the Phillies on Thursday.

“Our Middle School yearbook staff was on a group trip to the Ranger Game last night and one student was injured by a foul ball,” Crandall ISD spokesperson Erin McCann confirmed to inForney.com.

The student was immediately treated by Globe Life Park personnel and later taken to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She was later released from the hospital to her parents.

“Rangers Third Baseman, Joey Gallo, was surprised to hear that his fouled ball hit our student, but intends on sending her some Rangers swag,” McCann told inForney.com.

“I’ll definitely have to send something to them,” Gallo told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Stefan Stevenson in a post-game locker room interview. “I didn’t know I hit anyone.”

“That’s tough, you come to a game and get hit,” he said. “You never like to see that.”

The Rangers went on to win the matchup, 8-4, for their ninth straight win.
