CRANDALL, Texas — Crandall Police Department Chief Billy Kilgore resigned late last month, nearly a year after being named interim chief in wake of then-Chief Dean Winters resignation.
The Crandall City Council discussed the resignation in executive session on August 1, 2016, but did not take any public action on whether or not to appoint an interim chief or seek applications for the position.
Crandall Mayor Cody Frazier confirmed the resignation and said more details may become available to the public at the next city council meeting.
Crandall Police Department Lieutenant Mike Smith has been tasked with the day-to-day operations of the department, although, not officially named interim chief.
Kilgore was named interim chief in July 2015 in the wake of then-Chief Dean Winters and his appointment was later confirmed by the city council in January 2016.
