KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Crews are working to clean a diesel fuel spill Thursday afternoon on U.S. Highway 175 between Kemp and Mabank.
Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie says approximately 120 gallons of diesel fuel spilled following an 18-wheeler crash on the highway. The spilled fuel leaked from the highway into an estuary of Cedar Creek Reservoir.
The 18-wheeler struck a guardrail on eastbound U.S. Highway 175 between Kemp and Mabank, causing its fuel tank to rupture.
One lane of eastbound U.S. Highway 175 is closed while crews continue cleanup on the highway and Cedar Creek Reservoir.
