FORNEY, Texas — Eastbound U.S. Highway 80 drivers should expect delays Tuesday morning due to a wreck involving an 18-wheeler and a cement truck.
The crash was reported just before 8:30 a.m. on eastbound U.S. Highway 80 east of Lawson Road near the Dallas-Kaufman County line.
Police say a vehicle traveling eastbound on the highway slammed on its brakes and, in an effort to avoid hitting the vehicle, the 18-wheeler locked-up his brakes and swerved — causing it to strike the cement truck which was merging onto the highway.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken by CareFlite ambulance to a Dallas-are hospital with unknown injuries.
The Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management has been dispatched due to a fuel spill.
The Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Forney Police Department, Forney Fire Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety also responded to the crash scene.
This is a developing story.
