FORNEY, Texas — Two separate wrecks are causing delays on eastbound and westbound Interstate 20 near Farm-to-Market (FM) 740.
The Mesquite Fire Department, Mesquite Police Department, and Forney Fire Department responded to the wrecks at approximately 8:30 a.m.
Firefighters say the initial accident occurred when a motorist reportedly struck a goose near the FM 740 overpass. The accident resulted in the closure of the right lane of the highway.
A separate wreck involving multiple vehicles was reported in the backup of the initial accident. The left lane of westbound Interstate 20 and the left lane of eastbound Interstate 20 were closed with vehicles in the median and on the westbound shoulder.
In total, at least six vehicles were involved, possibly seven.
The Mesquite Police Department is investigating both incidents.
