FORNEY, Texas — The driver of an 18-wheeler hauling alcohol and other liquids avoided injury after the cab caught fire on Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 80.

FORNEY, Texas — The driver of an 18-wheeler hauling alcohol and other liquids avoided injury after the cab caught fire on Sunday afternoon on U.S. Highway 80.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., the Forney Fire Department and Forney Police Department responded to eastbound U.S. Highway 80 just prior to the Windmill Farms exit for an 18-wheeler which caught fire.

The fire forced the closure of U.S. Highway 80 at the Gateway Boulevard exit for approximately 30 minutes while firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. The highway has since been reopened.

The driver reported hauling wine and other liquids, possibly water, in the trailer.

No injuries were reported.
