The crash occurred at approximately 4:41 p.m. in the 1800 block of State Highway 243 near Trinity Valley Electric Coop.
According to police, citing investigation and witness statements, a 1992 GMC van drove into oncoming traffic after leaving the TVEC parking lot.
The driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was unable to avoid the van and the two vehicles collided head-on, according to police.
The driver of the van, identified by police as 82-year-old Lennie Roberts Jr., was airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver and two occupants of the Trailblazer suffered minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene.
On Saturday, 57-year-old Tim Garrett was killed in a separate crash when his motorcycle left U.S. Highway 175 and he struck a guardrail. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in that crash.
